I received DONA training in 2008 and took a midwife assistant workshop at The Farm in Tennessee in 2012 under the instruction of Pamela Hunt and Ina May Gaskin. In 2015 I completed the Wise Woman Way of Birth Doula certification and also became certified as an Advanced Holistic Doula through The Matrona, under the mentoring of Whapio Diane Bartlett.
In 2013 our first lovely child was born in our Nelson living room with 2 midwives, a doula and an incredible partner as support. In 2016 our chill little second was born in our home on the mountainside in a snow storm with a midwife, doula, friend and same wonderful partner.
My experiences have taught me that respect is the most important quality of a positive birth experience. I believe in birth as a natural process and if we trust our bodies, our own timeless strength as birthing people, and our caregivers, and if we have a comfortable space to birth in, we can have an empowering experience. When interventions arise, information about the possible outcomes must be provided so the experience is still one of respect.
I offer emotional support, physical support and information so you can make informed decisions towards attaining the birth experience you are looking for. I hold space for you to do your work and step in when I feel it is right. I offer labour massage, baby massage, and suggestions for comfort positions during the birth process. I have pre/post natal yoga training so can assist you in finding ways to strengthen and move to target discomforts. I will discuss concerns and questions with you as you prepare and throughout the birth process if the need arises. I also can help you with baby massage, babywearing, elimination communication and can unravel the confusing language of cloth diapering! while going through my collection of different kinds of diapers.

I ask for an initial deposit of $150, and a total of $400-$650, ideally paid the month following the birth. I do not want money to be a barrier to birth support, so please contact me, and we can discuss partial trades.
I am comfortable attending home births or hospital births with midwives, birth attendants, or doctors, as your comfort is essential to open into birth.
All prenatal visits can be done in your home or cafe, forest, pool, riverside.....!
